The theme for the '09 Juliette Low Ceremony was around G and everything she's done for the ship in the 15 years it has been going strong. My changing of It Won't Be Like This For Long is a tribute to what she's done for me and my sister.
Traffic crawls, cell phone calls,
The city screams at me.
Through my open window, I see
An old man, dark red Astro van.
He's got crow's feet on his face,
Got wrinkled hands, and he waves at me.
Yeah, he smiles at me.
Hello, world. How've you been?
I still miss my old friend.
Sometimes I feel cold as steel,
My life's spinning like a broken wheel.
I see a light, a little hope
To slow the whirl.
Hello, world.
Everything I read has
Black and white words.
And pictures of so much bloodshed,
To tell us 'how it is,'
Telling me to just give in,
Then I stop and stare
At another one
Full of a different red,
A bright red, a brilliant red.
Hello, world. How've you been?
They're my sisters, not just friends.
They let me know that there's still hope,
That this world gets where it's gonna go.
It's not always right,
But it's good. Yeah, they're my girls.
Hello, world.
Sometimes I forget what living's for,
But as I walked through that front door,
It feels like home,
Oh I'm home again.
When he looks me, that little boy, my heart comes unfurled.
Hello, world.
Hello, world.
All the empty disappears,
I remember why I'm here,
Just surrender and believe,
I fall down on my knees.
Oh hello, world.
Hello, world.
Hello, world.
The city screams at me.
